![]() In 2006 Peter Hadar, protégé of indie soul stalwart Eric Roberson, released his debut album, Memories of the heart. As great a debut as Memories of the Heart was, when you zoom to 2008 and the release of his sophomore effort, Well Dressed for the Art Show, Hadar tops his debut release by light years. The release is rich in sound and replete with great nuggets of soul psychedelia. Whereas his mentor, Erro’s trademark is heartfelt lyrics that tug at your heart strings, Hadar’s trademark seems to be his richly colorful and artful lyrics met by a punk-laden soul sound in the vein of Grace Jones, Cameo, or his contemporaries J’Davey and the SARA Creative Partners. There are so many standout tracks on the CD that we are not even going to go through the titles. It’s only a matter of time that Hadar’s name is included in conversations that include the likes of Ledisi, Frank McComb, Sy Smith, and his aforementioned ubiquitous mentor. This guy needs to tour the indie circuit more to let the world know what time it is. He needs to be recognized for his achievement, which if delivered to the right ears, could have Hadar front and center of a movement of indie artists that is only picking up steam. His Well Dressed for the Art Show is a masterful body of work that -- straight up -- feels good from beginning to end. If his live show is any where near good as his recorded works, then Mr. Hadar should go quite far. Get dressed up for this art show, grab a glass of white wine, and make this amazing set part of your summer bump! Taken from SoulCommune.com |
